The safe and effective management of extra-corporeal support for the purpose of surgical repairs to the heart and great vessels under the supervision of the Chief Perfusionist.
Responsible for providing a variety of patient care activities under the supervision of a physician, advanced practice provider (APP), or registered nurse in accordance with established guidelines and standards.
Under general supervision and according to established procedures, duties may include, but are not limited to, assembles and delivers case carts, crash carts and various other emergency carts per established pick lists. Restocks unused, returned supplies, notifies appropriate personnel of low or stocked out supplies. Provide standard customer service practices such as routing issues received by a customer to the appropriate personnel.
Facilitate a close working relationship between Sterile Processing and the Operating Room. A major focus will be anticipating the needs and bridging the gap to ensure surgeon satisfaction, case completion, interdepartmental communication, and patient quality care and safety by utilizing problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Responsible for managing specialized administrative activities for the department, including the referral process, surgical scheduling, phone triage, and other specialized administrative activities. The Heart Failure Integrated Practice Integrated Practice Unit is the cornerstone of the Heart Failure Program at Piedmont Athens. In 2020 our program was the 3rd in the nation to receive certification for heart failure through DNV. In 2022 we achieved Gold Plus status for heart failure with the American Heart Association.
