Responsibilities

This position provides clinical and clerical support within the Imaging department. Responsibilities include managing patient flow, conducting patient screening, assisting patients during procedures, maintaining supplies, and supporting technologists as needed. This role also includes remote cardiac monitoring for patients undergoing MRI when they are off nursing units.

 

  • Patient Interaction & Prep
    • Transports Patient 
    • Verify patient identity using two identifiers. 
    • Complete and document pre-procedure screening (e.g., contrast consent). 
    • Educate patients about the procedure and address questions. 
    • Communicate readiness to remote technologist. 
    • Monitor telemetry patients during exam.
  • Physical Setup 
    • Position the patient correctly on the scanner table. 
    • Prepare positioning aids 
    • Loads contrast injector
  • Contrast Administration 
    • Place and manage IV lines. 
    • Monitor for adverse reactions and initiate emergency response if needed.
  • Emergency Readiness 
    • Initiate BLS protocols if required 
    • Escalate to on-site technologists, physician or EMS per facility protocol
  • Communication 
    • Maintain continuous two-way communication with the remote technologist during the scan
  • Complete Exam Data Entry

 

Qualifications

Education

  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program Required or
  • In Lieu of Completion of ECG Rhythms and Identification course Required

Work Experience

  • No experience required if graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or
  • 1-year Direct patient care experience Required and
  • Recent experience in cardiac monitoring and arrhythmia interpretation Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • BLS certification Required
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)-AAMA Required or
  • Completion of ECG Rhythms and Identification course with 1-year direct patient care experience Required
