Responsibilities

The System Director of Infusion and Radiation Oncology Operations will provide strategic and operational leadership for enterprise-wide business operations supporting infusion and radiation oncology services. This role is accountable for designing, standardizing, and optimizing non-clinical workflows across the system to ensure operational efficiency, financial performance, and seamless integration between hospital and physician enterprise operations. Key responsibilities include oversight of patient access processes, insurance authorization workflows, facilities and space utilization, charge capture accuracy, and implementation of best practices to enhance revenue cycle performance. The System Director will lead initiatives to improve operational throughput, manage departmental budgets, and evaluate operating and capital resource needs. This position collaborates closely with pharmacy, revenue cycle, patient access, and oncology leadership to drive system-wide initiatives that support growth, sustainability, and exceptional patient experience.

 

What you will do

  • Design and implement operational workflows and business processes that enhance customer experience, optimize financial performance, and support enterprise-wide efficiency for infusion and radiation oncology services.
  • Execute operational strategies aligned with Piedmont Oncology’s strategic priorities, including expansion initiatives and partnerships that drive growth and innovation.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures for infusion and radiation oncology business operations in collaboration with appropriate leadership teams.
  • Serve as an internal consultant to drive standardization of business operations and ensure consistent outcomes across all entities.
  • Ensure connectivity and alignment with physician enterprise and system counterparts to support integrated business operations.
  • Partner with IS and technology teams to identify and implement system integration, optimization projects, and workflow enhancements.
  • Partner with the Piedmont Oncology Director of Clinical Practice Optimization and Efficiency to ensure end-to-end workflows across business and clinical operations are streamlined to deliver high-quality, effective care.
  • Collaborate with revenue cycle and reimbursement teams to implement strategies that optimize charge capture, insurance authorization, and overall revenue integrity.
  • Provide operational advisement and consensus-building support for enterprise initiatives impacting infusion and radiation oncology services.
  • Mentor new oncology administrators to accelerate onboarding and ensure understanding of system-wide business operations and priorities.
  • Lead performance improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency, financial sustainability, and patient access workflows.
  • Advise on accreditation readiness and compliance for business operations standards; may lead or support administrative aspects of accreditation processes.
  • Oversee administrative integration of newly acquired infusion sites, ensuring alignment with system standards and operational best practices.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy, revenue cycle, patient access, and administrative leaders across the Piedmont system to align strategies, goals, and objectives.
  • Engage with physician leaders to ensure operational strategies support enterprise goals and enhance physician alignment

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or related field from a recognized college or university required
  • Master’s Degree preferred

Work Experience

  • 10 years of progressively responsible healthcare operations experience, to include five (5) years of experience managing oncology service lines operations required
  • Experience managing radiation oncology and infusion revenue cycle operations required
