Overview
Reviews, analyzes, and codes documentation for hospital inpatient medical records to select and sequence the appropriate ICD-9-CM diagnosis, ICD-9-CM procedure codes, ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS as applicable to the transition to ICD-10.
Primary coding responsibility is Inpatient Coding.
Responsibilities
Reviews, analyzes, and codes documentation for hospital inpatient medical records to select and sequence the appropriate ICD-9-CM diagnosis, ICD-9-CM procedure codes, ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS as applicable to the transition to ICD-10.
Primary coding responsibility is Inpatient Coding.
Qualifications
Education- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
- Coding Certificate program (AHIMA accredited) Preferred
Work Experience- 1 year of coding experience Required
- Experience in coding at a multi-facility organization and remote coding experience is Preferred
Licenses and Certifications- One or more of certifications listed below: Upon Hire Required
- RHIA - Registered Health Information Administrator or
- RHIT - Registered Health Information Technician or
- CCS-Certified Coding Specialist CCS or CCS-P or
- CCA - Certified Coding Associate or
- CPC, CPC-A, or CPC-H
